Also known as
stereotyped hallucination. Both terms are used to denote a type of hallucination which displays little change and often lacks complexity. As explained by the Swiss psychiatrist Eugen Bleuler (1857-1939), "In general, schizophrenic hallucinations are very prone to become stereotyped. Complex ones become simple. Finally, they may be reduced to one word or one inarticulate sound which confirms his delusions to the patient."
